@Snowbird I read this as a general statement that people shouldn’t be spamming AI content and either passing it off as their own for debate or injecting it in a meaningless way in a sort of, “Oh look what the AI can do isn’t it funny/cute/dumb” way.
OTOH, in the thread that spawned this current one @christie was noting that ChatGPT seemed to offer an alternative translation of a new highly specialized sanskrit edition of the Heart Sutra and then @Jayarava responded with detailing how he uses it as a tool to aid him in his scholarly work. I don’t see how that runs even a little bit afoul of the intent behind FAQ #39. Hence why I think it would be nice if the mods clarify the intent. Just what is FAQ #39 trying to discourage and maybe more importantly why it is trying to discourage it.
