Why does almost everyone teach the brahmaviharas wrong?

This is the second time that my post has been hidden in this thread. It seems to me this forum cares more about silencing other views than working thru criticism.

I’ve been here almost daily for over 7 years and have seen countless conversations between people with vastly differing thoughts, ideas and conclusions about all things dhamma. Seldom are posts hidden, but when they are, there’s a reason. Unlike some forums, there is a code of conduct and speech here which is modeled around conduct and speech portrayed in the suttas. I would encourage you to read the guidelines with a mind of metta.

I don’t think “hiding” is due to a decision by moderators, just what the software does if several people flag the post. Perhaps the @moderators could clarify.

Edit: I presume this feature is so that objectionable material is hidden as soon as possible. That’s probably a good thing for obviously objectionable posts (pornographic pictures for example). Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be much nuance to the system.

Posts can be hidden due to flags from the community, moderator action, or a combination of these things. Please be assured that moderators carefully asses every flagged post before deciding on appropriate action. If a post is hidden, the poster will receive a notification from the system or from the moderators requesting that it be edited in accordance with our Guidelines. Please also be aware that moderators are all volunteers, spread out across different time zones, so sometimes it make take time for us to decide what actions are most appropriate. The flagging system is a way that the community can help to moderate itself and alert the moderators that there may be an issue we need to address.

I reviewed the guidelines and don’t see anything wrong with my most recent hidden comment except that it was too bold and too direct.
