An afterthought for anyone who’s interested in BHS but hasn’t yet sweated over Edgerton: you will probably find Ven. Dhammajoti’s Reading Buddhist Sanskrit Texts: An Elementary Grammatical Guide to be a much more accessible introduction to the language. It can be read online here.
