Is it true and possible for a
person to Regress from
liberation ?
Not to mention 7 times ?
Could it be a false discourse
or a distorted translation while
orally passed down , maybe
it was just a simile only ?

It is possible. It is not a distortion as far as I understand.

I disagree with this , there
is only one instance as far
as one can find .

Maybe , being in the jhāna
could be the case .

sāmayikāya cetovimuttiyā parihāyi

It is jhana. Cetovimutti is jhana (probably a hangover from the pre-Buddhist times, probably commonly used during the Buddhaā€™s day). Pannavimutti is full ā€˜Buddhistā€™ enlightenment.
