I previously discussed “specific condition (paccaya)” with @Sylvester, how, in my point of ,view, “paccaya” is not always synonynous with the word “cause” (“hetu”). It seems the introduction by @Brahmali here supports my point of view (since the five hindrances are not the “cause” of ignorance but merely a condition that supports/nourishes the pre-existing ignorance).
