TIL About Google Alerts, which will email you whenever new webpages are indexed matching a custom query. These queries can include any of the usual Google features. For example, to get alerted when Buddhism is in the news, I now have an alert for site:bbc.com Buddhism Very helpful for creating alerts for sites that don’t have a good RSS feed. :slight_smile:

I used to like the Wikipedia’s #DidYouKnow articles very much, I thought it would be nice if the Pali Nikaya could have such those short articles, so I made one, called, #DidYouKnow-SuttaEdition

Examples:

  • #DidYouKnow that the Buddha stated that providing medicines and provisions for the sick to a monk in deep concentration results in an immeasurable stream of merit that leads to happiness and a favorable rebirth? AN 4.51

  • #DidYouKnow that the Buddha compared his teaching method to a lion’s hunt, explaining that just as a lion attacks all prey with meticulous care, the Tathagata teaches the Dhamma with careful attention to every audience without exception? AN 5.99

  • #DidYouKnow that because Venerable Girimānanda had to live in the open air, the rain god refused to rain out of fear of making the monk wet? Thag 5.3
