Could we have blurbs for the sekhiyas?

I just noticed that there are no blurbs for the sehikya rules. The blurbs to the other rules are very clever, well done, and most of all useful.

I’d be happy to write them if they could be added to the site. Here is how I would do the first 10:

  1. The sarong should be worn evenly all around.
  2. The upper robe should be worn evenly all around
  3. Monastics should be well covered walking in inhabited areas.
  4. Monastics should be well covered sitting in inhabited areas.
  5. Monastics should be well restrained walking in inhabited areas.
  6. Monastics should be well restrained sitting in inhabited areas.
  7. Eyes should be lowered while walking in inhabited areas.
  8. Eyes should be lowered while sitting in inhabited areas.
  9. The robe should not be lifted while walking in inhabited areas.
  10. The robe should not be lifted while sitting in inhabited areas.

I realize that the blurbs aren’t much shorter than the rules themselves, but the same is true for many of the other rules. And for the sekhiyas, the titles of the rules are sometimes ambiguious, e.g. whose head and feet should not be covered.

OK, here is my attempt. I tried to make them succinct and also as gender neutral as possible. Once someone approves these a version for the Bhikkhunis could be made. In fact, these could be made completely gender neutral by replacing “monk” with “mendicant”.

Indeed, yes, let’s follow Ven Brahmali’s practice of distinguishing them per the Vinaya context. Never mind, I can do that myself.
