I recently noticed that the “more information” buttons in the Digital Pali Dictionary weren’t working:

I wrote to the author of the DPD and got this (as always) helpful response:

Yes, two windows users using GoldenDict v.1.5.0-RC Qt 4 reported this error. I think it’s cos that version has an incompatible / ancient version of Qt4, which is now up to Qt6.

The fix is quite simple — uninstall your current version of GoldenDict, then download and install this version of GoldenDict NG (= Next Generation). Here’s the Github

That will solve the button problem, and also ensure compatibility with future updates, which will make more use of JS and Qt6 to reduce the file size considerably, while (hopefully!) keeping the appearance and functionality identical.

This is helpful info, Ven. Snowbird. I am working with someone to get the DPD installed and we encountered this very issue. In this case, it’s on a mac. But I have to think it’s a related issue. Moreover the file directory shows that the deconstructor and grammar files didn’t load properly, which prevents the buttons from working.

All in a day’s work!
