In Memoriam Mother Sayamagyi

Mother Sayamagyi was one of the main students of Sayagyi U Ba Khin.

I received the following email this morning from the International Meditation Centre in the UK:

Yesterday morning between 4 and 5 am Mother Sayamagyi passed away peacefully in her sleep.

Following Mother Sayamagyi’s Demise, her disciples offered fruits and flowers in the Pagoda. At that time, on Mother Sayamagyi’s prior instructions, one of the disciples handed over Mother Sayamagyi’s Dana to the five Western Pagodas and Sayadaw U Pawara’s Monastery.

This is what Webu Sayadaw said of Sayagyi U Ba Khin’s demise, namely:

“Your Sayagyi did not die. A person like your Sayagyi will not die. You may not see him now, but his teaching lives on - unlike some persons who, even though they are alive, are as if dead, who serve no purpose and who benefit none”.
