Does the sentence “For a long time” show that in a past life Anurudha indeed lived as a being in a higher jhana?
Well, if you look at the thag 16.9, i don’t think it is right before his final life. it is more like previous lives before that.
You might want to search Anuraddha to check all the Sutta about him. Also Thag 16.9 Anuruddha may give some information.
But as Buddha said any of us has probably gone through the different realms except Suddhavasa.
But the hindrances probably blocking the mind to have the knowledges to know and see.
