All these years I’ve been hearing these things from you guys and the significance of yoniso manisikara only clicked in when I was listening to your sutta retreat. I’ve been doing it a bit hit and miss but now I’ll do it more consciously!!

I can’t think of anything you could investigate independently of dhamma principles where seeing any kind of causality/conditionality might bring peace and therefore assist samadhi - i.e. any application of yoniso manisikara, or dhamma vicaya, would lead to greater peace and therefore increase potential for samadhi.

So the suitable English translations would be “rational” or “reasonable”.

I was reminded of this thread while looking at a translation by Xuanzang. He renders yoniso as 如理, which means “according to reason” or rational, logical, etc. So, he agrees.
