Question with repetitive Pali in Pahārādasutta (AN8.19)

Hi! :slight_smile:

I’ve noticed the Pali text in AN8.19 being repetitive ( 2 times with slight differences) on the following occasion:

https://suttacentral.net/an8.19/en/sujato?lang=en&layout=sidebyside&reference=none&notes=asterisk&highlight=false&script=latin#10.7

Pali:

evamevaṁ kho, pahārāda, imasmiṁ dhammavinaye anupubbasikkhā anupubbakiriyā anupubbapaṭipadā, na āyatakeneva aññāpaṭivedho.

Yampi, pahārāda, imasmiṁ dhammavinaye anupubbasikkhā anupubbakiriyā anupubbapaṭipadā, na āyatakeneva aññāpaṭivedho;

English translation:

In the same way in this teaching and training the penetration to enlightenment comes from gradual training, progress, and practice, not abruptly.

A similar section is also found in UD5.5, where this same issue doesn’t appear:
https://suttacentral.net/ud5.5/en/sujato

I wonder if this is a mistake or is this somehow expected? Thanks!! :slight_smile:

It’s not a repetition in the Pali that is the issue, but rather the elimination in the English. Bhante Ānanadajoti translates it in its entirety:

This is taken from the Udāna version.

Bhante Sujato does a lot of this abbreviating.
