Rebirth and biology

My degrees are in social sciences and philosophy, but I also have a great interest in biology, especially biological evolution. At university, I enrolled in every biological evolution course they had to offer. And to me, biological evolution does not prove rebirth, but I find it highly compatible.

We are members of the Animal Kingdom. Our species and predecessor species have evolved and changed many times. At one time there were even several hominid species. The hominid species, like other species varied greatly and had inequitable intelligence and other traits. This fits with kamma and rebirth (but does not prove it). And we see in animals the same personality quirks and variety of emotions that we see in humans from elation to depression and everything else. Of the major religions, it’s primarily the Dharmic family of religions that accept animals as our brothers an sisters in samsara.
