Sanghamitta Day Special Online Event: A History of Bhikkhunis in Sri Lanka with Ven. Sela

Sri Lanka has been a uniquely significant country to the transmission of the bhikkhuni order, both ancient and modern.

All are welcome to attend this special online event hosted by Mettarama Nuns’ Monastery at 7pm AEDT (1.30pm Colombo time) Saturday, December 10, on the occasion of Sanghamitta Day, which marks the arrival of Sanghamitta Theri and the bhikkhuni order in Sri Lanka.

Our special guest, Ven. Sela, will be joining us live from Sri Lanka to share her detailed insider knowledge of Sri Lanka’s rich heritage of Buddhism and bhikkhunis.

Speaker short bio:
Ven. Sela was ordained as a samaneri in 2018 at Newbury Buddhist Monastery, and as a bhikkhuni in 2021 at Dhammasara Nuns’ Monastery, Australia. She currently lives in Sri Lanka.
