Having been unable to oust the govt. by protest, Sri Lankans have determined to change it by ballot. The ruling SLPP has fallen in the polls, while the NPP (National People’s Power)/JVP running on a platform of anti-corruption has risen. The regional elections in March will bring this trend into reality, to be followed later by the general election, however the govt. is stalling on the date of that.
My hope is that Sri Lanka gets a better government that will help the country rebuild after it’s economic collapse. I can still remember sci-fi author Arthur Clark ( “2001 A Space Odyssey” ) who made Sri Lanka his home calling it the jewel of Asia for having high literacy, good education, and material progress.
