Sutta Search: "It is possible that one of good practice should wish they be born in a brahmin/khattiya family, it may be so."

Or something like that. Basically, the Buddha teaches that it is possible that one can have the desire or aspiration for a certain birth and that may come about, e.g. “May I be born in a brahmin family.” The devas might be included. Pretty sure it’s in SN or AN.

Could it be AN 8.35?

Maybe MN 120 Sankhārupapatti Sutta - Reappearance By Aspiration

“Here, bhikkhus, a bhikkhu possesses faith, virtue, learning, generosity, and
wisdom. He thinks: ‘Oh, that on the dissolution of the body, after death, I might
reappear in the company of well-to-do nobles!’ He fixes his mind on that,
resolves upon it, develops it. These aspirations and this abiding of his,
thus developed and cultivated, lead to his reappearance there. This, bhikkhus,
is the path, the way that leads to reappearance there.

4–5. “Again, a bhikkhu possesses faith…and wisdom. He thinks: ‘Oh, that on the
dissolution of the body, after death, I might reappear in the company of
well-to-do brahmins!…in the company of well-to-do householders!’ He fixes his
mind on that…This, bhikkhus, is the path, the way that leads to reappearance
there.

And so forth for deva realms…

Occasionally when I remember this sutta I wonder if perhaps the Tibetans have just gotten really good at this.
