Liebe Freundinnen und Freunde von Voice, darf ich vorstellen: SuttaCentral Voice hat ab sofort auch ein deutsches Gesicht
und drei deutsche Stimmen! Vicki, Hans und Marlene sind so freundlich, euch alle bestehenden Alttexte von SuttaCentral vorzulesen. Einen Tag nach dem europäishchen Tag der Sprachen sind sie für euch bereit!
Leider hat Voice noch keine Suchfunktion für Deutsch, und ein Klick auf die schöne „Such mir etwas aus“-Schaltfläche führt zu keinem Ergebnis, wenn „Deutsch“ als Sprache für die Übersetzung festgelegt ist. Das wird erst möglich sein, wenn Voice auch auf segmentierte deutsche Übersetzungen zugreifen kann; das ist für den nächsten Entwicklungsschritt vorgesehen. Um ein deutsches Sutta anzuhören, ist es zur Zeit noch notwendig, die entsprechende Sutta-Kennziffer direkt in das Suchfeld einzugeben, z. B. „MN 23“, „DN33“ oder „sn 5.2“ (Groß- und Kleinschreibung sowie ein Leerzeichen zwischen Buchstaben und Zahl spielen keine Rolle). Aber auch wenn man Suttas auf Englisch hören will und die Sprache für die Übersetzung auf „English“ einstellt, kann man Voice mit der deutschen Benutzeroberfläche verwenden.
Wenn ihr in Deutschland seid, sollte sich Voice in eurem Browser automatisch auf Deutsch öffnen. Wenn das aus irgendeinem Grund nicht der Fall ist, könnt ihr die Einstellungen wählen:
Einstellungen (Zahnradsymbol rechts oben) > Languages > Translation language/Website language
Dear friends of SuttaCEntral Voice, one day after the European Day of Languages you will be pleased to listen to the Buddha’s teachings in a new language now, in German. The three German voices Vicki, Hans, and Marlene will read the German legacy translations available on SuttaCetnral, if you select your settings respectively. There is no search function yet for German, nor does the nice “Such mir etwas aus” button work—features to be hopefully developed in the not too distant future, together with the implementation of new segmented, i.e. fully supported, German translations.
It is possible to select the language for the user interface independent from the translation language; this means you can listen to English translations while using the German interface, or vice versa. This opens the perspective of adding more language interfaces before even being able to listen to anything in that language. Let’s say, a Finnish user could then navigate Voice in Finnish and listen to the suttas in English or German. 
Next to the user interface, the Voice Wiki too has been translated into German, as well as part of the introductory and explanatory pages of the SuttaCentral main site that are linked to that Wiki.
This current step has been a hard bit of work for @karl_lew! Thank you so much!! 
And for a certain German speaking Voice administrator it has provided an opportunity to build up their translation muscles… 
I still would like to thank @Wolfgang who has provided much help in finding a good German equivalent to the “Inspire Me” button: Such mir etwas aus! has been Wolfgang’s idea! And an extended „Dankeschön“ to all other members of our Saarland group who helped out with valuable feedback!
For the English users, a new reading voice has been added: Matthew, the newscaster.
Some bugs and bumps with Bhante Sujato’s audio recordings have also been removed in cooperation with @michaelh: Thanks to Michael, we have improved the voice segmentation of the recordings. All breaths and mouth clicks have been removed from recordings and segment alignments have been manually checked for all recorded suttas sn1.1 - sn2.20. If you do happen to notice improper segmentation, please let us know!
Also, the recordings have been processed through professional effects chain software used in radio: compressor and volume leveler, equaliser; and the sc-voice recording files have been moved to a new location.
