The Therigatha Festival is underway, and we hope that you enjoy watching our videos.

Some highlights are coming up in the next few days, make sure you don’t miss any of our live events:

On Friday:

  • Translating the Theris. Bhante @Sujato is interviewed by his student Bhante @Akaliko about the task of translating the Therigatha and what we can learn from the lives of the early bhikkhunis.

On the weekend:

  • Rainbodhi LGBTQIA+ Community presents Shattering the Mass of Darkness, a live reading and discussion of the Therigatha poems by Rainbodhi friends from around the world.

On Sunday, feature interview with our special guest for the half-way point of the festival: :tada:

  • The Power of the Therigatha. Finding Sanctuary co-organiser Ayya @Vimalanyani interviews Ayya Sudhamma @Charlotteannun about her long history of studying and teaching the Therigatha. Ayya Sudhamma speaks about the transformative power of the poems, her inspiration, and the internal struggles she went through during the recent literary scandal. Video premiere at 6pm AEST.

Next week, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, tune in to Buddhist Insights for three talks in a row:

  • Soma Theri. Bhante Suddhaso from Empty Cloud Monastery in New Jersey talks about Therigatha verse 3.8 by Soma Theri, followed by Q&A.

  • Patacara Theri’s 30 Students. Ayya Suvijjana talks about Therigatha verse 5.11 by Patacara Theri’s 30 Students, followed by Q&A.

  • Finding Sanctuary Panel Discussion. The finale of the festival, an online panel discussion featuring all the guest speakers from Finding Sanctuary, as well as Ayya Sudhamma. This is your chance to ask questions about the poems and themes covered in the series.
