In a discussion about monasteries in the West and Asian customs I had a question that maybe can be answered here:
What was ‘proper’ behavior of lay people towards monastics in the EBT? From the monastics’ side behavior is regulated by the Vinaya of course. But if one was (becoming) a lay follower and asked to be taught the Dhamma, what was the polite and proper behavior framing it?
