Greetings! I translated the Metta Sutta into Chinese. Hope to get feedback and corrections, and hope it’s helpful for SuttaCentral Chinese translation project and Metta practice of Chinese practitioners.
It might be difficult to treat all beings (including those who have harmed us) with such a degree of Metta as a mother would risk her own life to protect her only son. We can reflect on the Buddha’s dictum that in this beginningless cycle of
rebirths, it is hard to find even a single being who has not at
some time been one’s own mother or father, sister or brother,
son or daughter. All beings, at some time of the Samsara, could have been our only son. I find this reflection really helps practicing Metta.
It looks like a nice fusion. It is modern, but it is in verse.
I think at least. My Chinese is amateur at best and my actually fluent real living Chinese is worse. I can introduce myself, talk about my family background, name my nationality and the foods I like, and discuss the rooms in my house. That’s about it.
