Report bugs for the new site here! šŸ›

Itā€™s not easily reproducible, but occasionally I open a sutta and the page is blank until I refresh it. Sorry that this is rather non-specificā€¦

Huh, well thatā€™s a new one! I can see the same bug, so it must be a glitch in the coding of the the files, I guess. @Blake, can you check this and see whether the latest export from Pootle might have caused this?

If this happens again, before refreshing, can you open the browser ā€œinspectā€ tools, go to the ā€œconsoleā€ tab and see if it says anything?

You mean this sort of message?

Failed to load SuttaCentral
_=1527557675147: No ā€˜Access-Control-Allow-Originā€™ header is present on the requested resource. Origin ā€˜https://discourse.suttacentral.netā€™ is therefore not allowed access.

That was on the console, but Iā€™m not sure from when, and it may be completely irrelevantā€¦

Indeed.

Okay so this is the forum, not the main site. Is this what you meant in your original post? I too have noticed this occasionally on Discourse. We do not build this software, we just run it. I assume it is a bug and will be fixed in an upgrade at some point.

OK, as I said, I wasnā€™t sure when that message was generated.
What I was referring to was clicking a link to a sutta, and having a blank screen, which came right when I refreshed. Now I know how to find the information you want, I can look for it if it happens again.

I suspect it happens when my internet connection is a bit slow, but Iā€™m really not sure.

Actually, looking back, it looks like it was trying to load:

https://suttacentral.net/sutta_info/sn45.1?lang=en&298:100:

Itā€™s in line 747 of the output file:

#. </p><p> Bhagavā avoca
#. <a class="pts-cs" id="pts-cs18"></a>
#. <a class="pts-vp-pli" id="pts-vp-pli1.185"></a>
#. <a class="sc" id="sc21"></a>
msgctxt "dn9:18.1"
msgid "Taį¹ƒ kiį¹ƒ maƱƱasi, poį¹į¹hapāda, "
msgstr "What do you think, Poį¹į¹hapāda? "

There is a rogue Bhagavā avoca in the comments section.

OK, I think it turns out that my problem is just a slow network, and if I wait long enough it loads. Here were the errors while loading: SuttaCentral

Just noticed a paragraph starting mid sentence. Is this kind of thing intentional?

Thank you so much! Will make the changes to the Itivuttaka. The changes for Bhante @Sujatoā€™s text he will have to look at.

Great Work on the new site. Much Metta!

To add to Stuā€™s finding ā€¦ after one highlights the text (text1), then highlights a new section of text (text2), non-showing of pali definition in text1 persists. This non functioning persists with future selections as well.

Keep up the great work!

The display for the badges page seems to not quite look right- text flows past the badge in some places, doesnā€™t wrap, and is too short to actually see what the badge is for in many cases.

Chrome on MacOS.

Yes, the css for the new theme is not that great. At some point we will look into it but have a lot of other things on our plate at the moment. However, you can always switch back to the old theme if you want in your settings.

No, this is caused by the way the abbreviations are handled. The translation is inheriting paragraphs from the Pali text, but has abbreviated a bunch of repetitions. My plan is to assess and adjust these issues at some point in the not too distant future. Hopefully such problems donā€™t occur too often.

Sorry, I canā€™t follow this; nor can I locate the message by Stu that youā€™re referring to. Can I ask for some more explanation?

Sorry for replying in the wrong place ā€¦

This was referring to a post by Stu on March 20. I paste part of his original post below ā€¦

Going to a page with a segment number (or clicking a segment number once in a page), e.g. SuttaCentral1

Settings: View textual information is on; side-by-side; Pali - English

Hovering over any pali word outside the selected segment works as expected and brings up the pali dictionary definition:

[picture from original post]

So the above is very cool, but hovering over a pali word inside the selected segment does not show a pali definition. I canā€™t supply a screenshot of that because PrtSc doesnā€™t show my cursor.

Yes, you are right. We have noticed this too and have already an open issue ticket for this on GitHub:

I think at the moment itā€™s best just to wait for P3 before trying to fix this bug.

Iā€™m seeing a weird formatting glitch at SuttaCentral
with the side-by-side rendering getting jumbled into multiple columns with interleaved English and Pali.
(Window 10, Chrome)

I canā€™t see this in the page you link to. Did you try refreshing the page?

I also donā€™t see it anymore.
