SuttaCentral Voice v1.0.0 Released 😍

Oh, whoops very sorry, must have missed that.

In the course of today I’ve done it several ways. Most recently, with the above test, I’ve just relied on my browser’s memory. I know the URL begins with “50” so I type that and it instantly suggests the rest (because I’ve visited before): “http://50.18.90.151/scv/index.html#/” I hit that (which is the same URL as the home) and I land on SCV.

How are you getting there?

With my test just a few minutes ago I also sort of relied on my browser’s memory and clicked the icon it shows me when opening a new tab:

Do you know the full URL associated with that icon?

http://50.18.90.151/scv/index.html?r=0.2921933662674002#/?showId=true&iVoice=0&showLang=0&maxResults=100&ips=3&lang=en

Just when copying it here I see that it must be an older one with some other settings. But the same happens when I type “50” in the URL line, except that then I get a choice of different versions, none of which seems to represent my recent settings.

I think that might be the issue: settings are actually declared in the URL. Can you maybe delete that one, save the home one and try rebooting again?

You mean, clicking on “home”, and then save the settings it gives me?

Ooups… when clicking on “home”, I actually find my preferred settings!

Yeah, kinda. The main idea is to delete older URLs you might have saved in your browser (if you click in the address bar, enter in “50.” perhaps many suggestions will come up, you can press delete to get rid of them one by one).

Maybe you can also get rid of the icon, or update its URL.

The point is to make sure you go to: http://50.18.90.151/scv/index.html#/ (rather than any address with settings already declared in it, ie the part that goes showId=true&iVoice=0&showLang=0&maxResults=100&ips=3&lang=en).

Oh wow, you liked it that much you hacked into the D&D settings and gave me a ‘like’; impressive!

Would you mind testing to make 100% sure that your settings do persist after a reboot?

Just patiently waiting, and I seem to get some back…

That’s what I just did, and my settings are… gone! :disappointed_relieved:

Okay, continuing on with tests, I tried FF on my brother’s old Vista machine (it has been a painful experience! Every thing takes sooooo long to load :sob:). Settings did not survive a reboot.

I got back this URL after rebooting, doing a new search and playing:

http://50.18.90.151/scv/index.html?r=0.8927241170922453#/?iVoice=0&ips=4&lang=en&maxResults=5&search=hair&showId=false&showLang=0

I then subsequently re-entered my own preference settings and tested again. I got back this URL:

http://50.18.90.151/scv/index.html?r=0.8241939587446376#/?search=help

@karl_lew, @blake has set up the DNS for voice.suttacentral.net. All we need now is for you to change he URL from the IP address to the domain address.

Yesterday when I search “DN” or “MN” it came up with the Sutta number.
For instance DN1, DN2 etc.
Now it does not show the number.

Thanks for reporting. It’s already on the fix list.

While you’re there @SarathW1 would you mind if I asked if SCV now saves your setting preferences (even after a reboot)?

This morning the flow of playing is good. I am playing DN3.
There is no more internet users in the premises. Perhaps I had the problem due to the trafic last night.

That’s great! Although, it was really helpful that you mentioned it anyway, as it turns out Karl can do something to improve things here, and again that is on the fix list.

Also, I hope you’re enjoying a slightly less abruptly ending bell sound; that has now been changed.
